With the soon to be released dvd “Beyond The Secret” and the future sequel to “The Secret” coming out as well, the buzz about positive thinking and The Law of Attraction certainly has been picking up. I can’t help but be a positive thinker. I believe it’s in my genetic make up to be ridiculously optimistic. My positive outlook on life certainly has helped me attract wonderful and amazing things, but can optimism actually do more harm than good?

Listen to what Change Series Expert John Paul Micek has to say about Positive Thinking…

Optimism vs Pessimism

It’s actually ok to be a pessimist at times as long as you don’t allow it to consume you. Lets face it, sometimes no matter how positive your thoughts are… crap happens.

I’ve certainly experienced my share of disappointments from depression, bankruptcy, and weight gain. But you know what? All of those negatives shaped me to make me the positive person who I am and allow me to experience the joys that life offers me today.

I tend to find a lot of positive in nearly any negative situation. It usually sucks in the moment, but I’m someone who believes that things happen for a reason. Even the negatives present opportunity. If I didn’t close down my health club and claim bankruptcy I wouldn’t have the online fitness business that I do today and I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to help thousands of people around the world transform their body’s and their lives.

In the Change Series program as John Paul continued his discussion on positive thinking he said that he prefers to be a “short term pessimist, but long term optimist.” I think that’s a great way of looking at it. We can have faith and be optimistic that we will achieve our goals in the long term, but we need to have that little bit of doubt to put things into perspective and realize that obstacles will present themselves along the way. It’s not going to be a completely smooth ride no matter how positive you think.

What do you think about the Law of Attraction and positive thinking? Has it served you well? Have there been times when it’s got you into trouble because you were just thinking positive thoughts but not taking any action toward making those thoughts a reality?

Are you able to turn a negative situation into a positive one? How do you handle the really tough times when you want to be negative for a bit and grieve for the situation that you are in?

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Please take the time to share your opinions in the comment box below.

Embrace Change… Your dream life awaits you,
